The MultiSpectral Instrument on board the Sentinel-2 (S-2) satellites of the European Space Agency offers new possibilities for Arctic research; S-2A and S-2B provide 13 spectral bands between 443 and 2202 nm and spatial resolutions between 10 and 60 m, which may enable the monitoring of large areas of Arctic sea ice.

Satellite remote sensing aerosol monitoring products are readily available but limited to regional and global scales due to low spatial resolutions making them unsuitable for city-level monitoring. Freely available satellite images such as Sentinel -2 at relatively high spatial (10m) and temporal (5 days) resolutions offer the chance to map aerosol distribution at local scales. As explained by @kraftek, Sen2Cor version 2.8.0 contains new features and improvements respect to Sen2Cor v2.5.5 but it doesn’t support some old products.For this, we have decided to support both sen2cor versions by two different plugins in SNAP, so you can execute both. The processing parameters depend on the surface to be corrected. Over land, the iCOR is able to retrieve the the aerosol optical thickness at 550nm (AOD) while over water the AOD is fixed to 0:1.
